The lighthouse on Kidston Island is a well-photographed and iconic part of the village of Baddeck. The water (Bras d'Or Lake) between Baddeck and the island was frozen over this past weekend, allowing area residents a chance to see it up close in the winter.
In the summer, Kidston Island is home to a public beach which can be accessed by a ferry service operated by the local Lions Club.
